1. set – Merve Salgar / tanbur solo
Merve Salgar is a musician from Istanbul who plays the traditional Ottoman music instrument, the tanbur. Her performances are based on improvisation in makam music, aiming to explore experimental soundscapes through improvisations.
2. set – Sonotopie/Autoskopie
Anil Eraslan: cello, live electronics
Alexis Baskind: double bass, live electronics
Sonotopie/Autoskopie is a protean musical portrait of an imaginary megalopolis, for cello, double bass and electricity. Two sides of the same coin. Two seemingly opposite perspectives on the same object. Sonotopie is an improvised wander through a musical map of this city. Autoskopie plunges into its entrails, punctuated by the parallel pulsations of its body/machine.
This new project follows a collaboration in the form of a documentary film, Sound Dreams of Istanbul (currently in the final stages of production), a plunge into a real-life megalopolis that largely inspired this duo.
