Dare You Say: Game Night
19:30 Presentation of «Good Deed Bad Deed» by İpek Aşıkoğlu & İpek Çınar
20.00-22:00 Games time (capacity: 32 person – first come, first served)
«Good Deed Bad Deed» is a board game created by artist İpek Çınar and legal academic İpek Aşıkoğlu that will presented at «Chromatic Wednesdays». It encourages people to express their intentions and discuss their own positions in producing and presenting photographs, while addressing structural discrimination such as racism, sexism, ageism, classism and discrimination based on faith. Through hypothetical scenarios, the game challenges decision-making and judgment mechanisms in photography encouraging players to consider alternative perspectives.
After the presentation, the audience is invited to a game with İpek Aşıkoğlu and İpek Çınar. The participants will be divided into groups of four. Those who come in a group of four can start right away and choose whether they want to play the role of the good-hearted or the devil, everyone’s lover or the fat cat. Join us for an engaging evening of conversations about photography, agency, curatorial work, and your positioning in the art field!
İpek Çınar (she/her) graduated from METU in Ankara in 2018 with a degree in political science and began her master’s studies in Art in Context at UdK Berlin in 2020. Çınar is also a member of AICA Turkey, co-editor of Orta Format since 2015, and works in the field of anti-discrimination and social justice.
İpek Aşıkoğlu studied at the Faculty of Law at İstanbul University, completed her master’s degree in private law and is currently pursuing her doctorate. Aşıkoğlu, who worked as a lawyer for a while after graduating from the university in 2014, enjoys working in areas where law and innovation meet, and thinking about these fields. In 2018, the master’s thesis titled «Kişisel Verilerin Korunması ve Büyük Veri» (Protection of Personal Data and Big Data) was published as a book. Aşıkoğlu, who has published various articles in the field of personal data protection, also continues her studies in the fields of commercial and intellectual property law.
