Before we leave the infamous year of 2020 behind and also finalize the first month of Chromatic Wednesdays, we host the musician and the artist Devrim CK in our studio in Apartment Project. During our talk and music session, we will delve into the personal experiences of Devrim CK, a member of Siyasiyabend, his past Istanbul time, actions during Gezi Uprising, and migration to Berlin. While discovering his music production and street activism against gentrification, we will trace back the events from the past to today which shaped his creativity.

Devrim CK was one of the founding members of the legendary music band Siya Siya, which has a cult status in the music scene of Istanbul. Their albums and street performances have been extensively covered by documentary films. The band was also featured in Fatih Akın’s lm, ‘’Crossing the Bridge: Istanbul’’. Devrim CK contributed later to many activist platforms with his visual practices and organizational works. He took part in and also initiated many projects that were based on cultural activism. He made use of quite a large span of media, ranging from GIFs to quickly edited short videos, from audio-reactive visuals to digital AV techniques. He is currently working on notions of artificial intelligence and minimalistic-geometric forms of generative art. In his practice, devrim ck traces loopy moments of quotidian life and transient thoughts and signs that leave their marks on public space. Recently, he and his friends established the project STUDIO B7.

Bevor wir das berüchtigte Jahr 2020 hinter uns lassen und auch den ersten Monat der Chromatic Wednesdays abschließen, haben wir den Musiker und Künstler Devrim CK in unserem Studio im Apartment Project zu Gast. Während unserer Gesprächs- und Musiksession werden wir uns mit den persönlichen Erfahrungen von Devrim CK, einem Mitglied von Siyasiyabend, seiner vergangenen Zeit in Istanbul, den Aktionen während des Gezi-Aufstandes und seiner Migration nach Berlin beschäftigen. Während wir seine Musikproduktion und seinen Straßenaktivismus gegen Gentrifizierung entdecken, werden wir die Ereignisse von damals bis heute zurückverfolgen, die seine Kreativität geprägt haben.

Die Veranstaltung findet in englischer Sprache statt. Die Veranstaltung wird live auf Facebook Live gestreamt.

Devrim CK trug später mit seinen visuellen Praktiken und organisatorischen Arbeiten zu vielen aktivistischen Plattformen bei. Er nahm an vielen Projekten teil, die auf kulturellem Aktivismus basierten und initiierte diese auch. Dabei bediente er sich einer recht großen Bandbreite an Medien, von GIFs bis zu schnell geschnittenen Kurzvideos, von audio-reaktiven Visuals bis zu digitalen AV-Techniken. Derzeit arbeitet er an Vorstellungen von künstlicher Intelligenz und minimalistisch-geometrischen Formen der generativen Kunst. In seiner Praxis spürt Devrim CK looptypische Momente des alltäglichen Lebens, flüchtiger Gedanken, sowie Zeichen, die ihre Spuren im öffentlichen Raum hinterlassen, nach. Vor kurzem gründete er mit seinen Freunden das Projekt STUDIO B7.
