Condition Room

Having departed from the complicated context of present-day Turkey, we observe that our conditions of living and working in Berlin constantly overlap and interact. We inspire each others’ oscillating stories; we resist forgetting while we also consciously strive to forget. We persist in our own memories; we are claiming our own words to constitute our own histories. The spatial structuring of the Condition Room functions not only as a setting for artworks but also as a nest, a cocoon, a home, a grotto where you protect, maintain, rejuvenate and produce yourself. The scaffolding used in the exhibition echoes the sense of constructional temporariness that marks the process of adapting to the city of Berlin. Telescopic volumes of rectangular prisms create a room for the panel discussions.
